If you’ve found your way here, chances are you’re craving something slower, simpler, and more meaningful than the fast-paced rhythm the world keeps trying to drag you into.
Same here, friend.
Boots & Roots was born on a dusty 20-acre tract of Texas dirt (couldn't even call it soil yet), a pair of well-worn hiking boots, and a longing for a life that actually felt like… life.
In 2017, our family traded in suburbia’s schedules for something with a little more soul. We didn’t know much—just that God was calling us to build something deeper. Something rooted. Something that forced us to put our hands back in the dirt and our hearts back in the right place.
What we learned is this:
--->You don’t need a ranch to live a homegrown life.
--->You don’t need chickens to eat simply and intentionally.
--->And you definitely don’t need acreage to teach your kids grit, gratitude, and gumption.
You just need roots—and a willingness to plant them wherever you happen to be standing.
That’s what this space is for.
🤎 What You’ll Find Here
Faith & Family
Because the land has taught me more about God’s character than any book besides His Word. Every season holds a lesson—slow obedience, pruning, growth, rest, resurrection—and I’ll share them with you here.
Homegrown Food
I’ll make farm-to-table less intimidating and more doable, whether you’re cooking a whole pastured chicken for the first time or trying to get dinner on the table between activities.
Homestead-from-Anywhere Skills
Composting on a balcony? Stocking a pantry? Learning to cook with what you do have? Yes. All of that.
Outdoor Skills & Bushcraft Basics
Because I’ve been backpacking for 25 years, and I fully believe that getting outside teaches families resilience like nothing else can.
Ranch Stories & Farm Wisdom
The funny, the humbling, the heartbreaking, and the holy. From the chaos of livestock guardians to the lessons I’ve learned planting roots in rocky soil.
🤎 Why “Boots & Roots”?
Boots represent the work, the grit, the hard days, the unexpected detours.
Roots represent the faith, the family, the foundation, the growth.
We need both.
You need both.
And together, they create a life worth living on purpose.
